What is the difference between SPY and QQQ? Now I know they are different ETF's, I want to understand why would I trade one versus the other if I wanted to focus on one of them.

Both seem like popular choices for traders. Any disadvantage to trading SPY? how about QQQ?

Kraig

SPY has excellent liquidity, as a matter of fact it is the poster child for liquidity

grayson

The Invesco QQQ is a an ETC that is passively managed, it tracks the Nasdaq100 so it is mainly tech powerhouses. The SPY is correlated to track the entire S&P

PlaceboTrader

SPY can be traded and so can QQQ. Get to know the ETF you're trading, the familiarity is critical

joker

SPY has unmatched liquidity. It makes order fills instantaneous so I would recommend "The SPY"

mariobros

SPY has extreme volume which makes for great order fills.

Kraig

That's what I said... SPY has super-liquidity!
